Conservation & Adaptive Reuse
Finding appropriate contemporary uses for heritage, traditional and underutilised buildings while respecting the character that makes them distinctive.

Conservation Dwelling is a Singapore-based conservation and hospitality company creating new commercial life for distinctive properties across Asia.
We work across property, hospitality and place — developing contemporary uses for existing buildings and the operating models that sustain them.
We work where property, hospitality and place meet.
A building can be restored without being given a future.
At Conservation Dwelling, we believe successful conservation requires more than preserving architecture. It requires a viable reason for a place to continue being used.
We work with owners and partners to identify that purpose — repositioning heritage, traditional and underutilised properties for hospitality, accommodation, cultural, food and beverage, and other experiential uses.
From the initial property assessment to concept development, operating strategy and ongoing hospitality management, we connect the physical asset with the business that allows it to endure.

Across Japan, traditional buildings are disappearing not necessarily because they lack cultural value, but because they lack a sustainable contemporary use.
We see an opportunity to connect conservation with hospitality. We work with traditional and underutilised properties — including machiya, kominka, akiya, small hotels and other distinctive buildings — to develop commercially viable uses grounded in their architecture, neighbourhood and cultural context.
Our role can extend from assessment and concept creation to hospitality strategy, operating models, guest experience and management.

We do not believe every old building should become a hotel.
We believe every significant building deserves a thoughtful examination of what it could become.
Sometimes the answer is accommodation. Sometimes it is food, culture, community, work or a combination of uses.
Our role is to find the intersection between what a place was, what the market needs and what the property can sustainably become.
